Funkia is the rejected generic name for the plant we call Hosta today. I like Funkia better or even the Japanese name Giboshi, but alas we have Hosta to honor Austrian botanist and personal physician of Holy Roman Emperor Francis II,
Nicholas Thomas Host. Whatever you call them, they are popular shade garden plants. This leaf was back lit with an off-camera flash which highlights the elegant curving vein structure. Canon 40D, 1/250 sec @ f/16.0, ISO 200, 50mm macro lens.

Not plantain lily?
According to Wikipedia - Plantain Lily, Corfu Lily, and the Day Lily have all been used as common names for the Hosta. The woman who gave me my first Hosta's many years ago called them Plantain Lilies. I had just never heard of Funkia and thought it made for an interesting fact. Thanks for the comments and following.
Love the lines in this shot, and I had no idea they used to have a different name. Who knew? I have some growing in my front yard...
