Model Railroader

Today we took my grandson shopping for his birthday at one of his favorite stores, Chuckatuck Collectibles in Suffolk, Virginia. He spent a lot of time operating the accessories on the Lionel train layout. Here he is intently watching the coal loader do its thing. Canon 40D, 1/25 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 800, 50mm prime lens.

Tiki Torch

From 2010 Blog
- The flame from a Tiki Torch at the cookout and pool party yesterday at Brian and Kristal's house in Suffolk Virginia. The pool was small but tons of fun with my grandson Robert. Nothing like a kid and a pool. Canon 7D, 1/500 @ f5.6, ISO 400, 100mm macro.

198 - Mr Peanut's House

From 365 Project
The once grand mansion and home of Amedeo Obici, founder of Planters Peanuts, rots away from neglect. Amedeo and his wife Louise built the Art Nouveau-style mansion in 1924 using many Italian craftsman. Now painted white, it was originally "Planters Peanut Yellow". The red tile roof, architectural details and inlaid parquet tile floors are some of its many treasures. But most amazing is the sweeping view of the Nansmond River from the back porch. While listed on National Register of Historic Places, the home's restoration is pending current efforts by the City of Suffolk, owner since 2002, to find a funding partner. Canon G10, 1/500 sec @ f/7.1, ISO 100.

178 - Rain Chain

From 365 Project
This hammered cup copper rain chain replaces the traditional downspout. We visited the Southern Living Showcase Home at the Riverfront community in Suffolk Virginia today. The rain chain caught my eye and was pretty cool and interesting. They say it makes a great running water sound during a rain. Canon G10, 1/500 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 200, 11mm equivalent focal length.
