Bows

- Cindy was busy wrapping away today and the box of bows caught my eye. Canon 7D, 1/250 sec @ ~f/2.8, ISO 800, Lensbaby, wide angle with star shaped aperture.

Star Light

- Stars explode out from the light core. This is one of those fiber optic light wands photographed with my Lensbaby using the star creative aperture disk. The little different colored points of light at the end of the fibers create a specular highlight. Because they are out of focus, they take on the shape of the camera's aperture. In this case the aperture is a cardboard disk with a star shaped opening. Canon Digital Rebel XTi, 1/30 sec @ ~f/2.8, ISO 800.

Elise

From 2010 Blog
- The Lotus Elise is a fiberglass body and aluminum chassis true roadster sports car. It's mid-engine power and read wheel drive make for an amazing handling car that can reach speeds of 150 MPH. The is a true sports car driver's automobile as the design aims to reduce weight, so there's not much in the amenities department. It's purpose is only to take two people and move them very fast. Canon Rebel XTi, 1/400 sec @ f/5.6, ISO 100, Lensbaby Composer with super wide angle adapter.

The Great Bridge

From 2010 Blog
- 127 years later the Brooklyn Bridge is still an amazing feat of engineering and construction. I had the opportunity to walk across the bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan last fall and took this picture of the east tower using my Lensbaby. I highly recommend walking the great bridge on any trip to NYC and for history and engineering buffs, David McCullough's 1972 book "The Great Bridge" is a must read. Canon 7D, 1/200 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 100, Lensbaby Composer.

358 - 'Twas the night before Christmas

From 365 Project
Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
. . .
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
Clement Clark Moore
Canon 7D, 1/15 sec @ ~f/4.0, ISO 800, Lensbaby Composer with home made Christmas Tree aperture disk.

345 - Bug Eye

From 365 Project
A friend at work owns this cherry restored 1953 Volkswagen Beetle. He usually drives it on Fridays so I took advantage of it and captured today's photo. Canon 7D, 1/250 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 400, Lensbaby Composer with wide angle adapter.

290 - Digital Plumbing

From 365 Project
We were busy today cutting over to a new phone system at work that uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). I took this picture of some of the wiring "digital plumbing" which all of the company's data, information and phone calls depend on. Thing's went very smoothly and I'm glad I have such a talented and dedicated group of professionals that make all of the "magic" happen. Canon 40D, 1/25 sec @ f/2.8, Lensbaby Composer with the wide angle adapter.

267 - Uassuming Commonplace of Nature

From 365 Project
This is how William Wordsworth referred to the daisy in 1802.
To the Daisy
With little here to do or see
Of things that in the great world be,
Sweet Daisy! oft I talk to thee,
For thou art worthy,
Thou unassuming Common-place
Of Nature, with that homely face,
And yet with something of a grace,
Which Love makes for thee!

224 - Black Eyed Susan

From 365 Project
A large bunch of Black Eyed Susan's have been beckoning me to take their picture. I pass these every morning on my drive to work. Today's the day with the image captured using my latest favorite photographic gadget, the Lensbaby. Canon 40D, 1/640 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 200.

222 - Uncanny Resemblance

From 365 Project
I just received my latest issue of PEZ Collectors News in which an article pointed out the uncanny resemblance between PEZ Boy and Rod Blagojevich, the disgraced former governor of Illinois. You know what that means, a picture of the day highlighting the still much admired PEZ Boy, a star in his own right. Canon Rebel XTi, 1/200 sec @ ~f/4.0, ISO 200 using the Lensbaby Composer with +4 macro lens and the star shaped creative aperture.

214 - Wave Break

From 365 Project
The waves were breaking from right to left today after some late afternoon showers. We weren't sure if we we were going to get our Sunday evening trip to the beach in, but the rain stopped and we had the beach almost to ourselves. I was experimenting with the selective focus of the Lensbaby Composer. Canon 40D, 1/500 sec @ f2.8, ISO 200.

211 - Violet Baby

From 365 Project
I was experimenting with my Lens Baby Composer tonight. This African Violet bloom was a nice subject to work with the creative selective focus offered by this great tool. Hampton Roads photographers should take advantage of the Lens Baby event at Norfolk's Richmond Camera store at 222 W. 21st Street this Saturday, August 1st from 10-3. Bring your SLR and try one out. Canon 40D, 1/124 sec @f/2.8, ISO 200, +4 closeup lens.

121 - Azalea Festival

From 365 Project
This week is Norfolk's 56th International Azalea Festival. The azalea's this year are just magnificent. A cooler than normal spring has produced the best blooms we've seen in years. This shot is one of the large bushes in my backyard. Canon 40D, 1/800 sec at f/4.0, ISO 200 with the Lensbaby Composer.
