17 - Wisky

On January 17, 1991 the USS Wisconsin directed the sequence of Tomahawk missle launches that initiated the opening of hostilities in the first Gulf War. Over the next six weeks BB-64 provided fire support to coalition forces. On February 28, 1991 the Wisconsin fired her last naval gunfire and later that year she was decommissioned for third time. Since December 7, 2000 she has been part of the Norfolk Virginia waterfront. Her decks are open to visitors. Captured with a Canon 40D, f11, 1/160s, ISO 200, 50mm.

15 - Dr. King

Today would have been Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 80th birthday had his life not been cut short by an assassin's bullet on the balcony of his Memphis motel room. Norfolk is home to an 83-foot monument designed to preserve the legacy of Martin Luther King Junior and other slain civil rights leaders. Captured with a Canon G10, f4.0, 1/640s, ISO 80.

This is inside the north arcade of the Duke University Chapel looking towards the door leading into the chapel narthex. It is a hand held image taken at twilight about 45 minutes after sunset. Image taken at 1/4 second, f2.8, 30mm equivalent zoom with image stabilization on.
