We made a visit today to the Virginia Aquarium. The loggerhead turtles always cooperate with photographers. Capture with a Canon G10, F/2.8, 1/60s, ISO 1600, 30mm equivalent, post processed with Noise Ninja.

44 - 5 Star Memorial

Norfolk's 19th Century City Hall building houses the MacArthur Memorial, final resting place of General of the Army Douglas MacArthur and his wife Jean. MacArthur was one of the most colorful and controversial figures in American military history. His mother, Mary Pinkney Hardy MacArthur was a native of Norfolk, Virginia. Canon G10, f/8.0, 1/640s, ISO 200, 88mm equivalent focal length.

Brown pelicans rest on pilings silhouetted by the early morning sun. The photo was taken just off East Mellen Street in the historic Phoebus community of Hampton, Virginia. Canon 40D, f/5.6, 1/8000s, ISO 100, Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS zoomed to 176mm.

Norfolk's Chrysler Museum of Art has an unparalleled world class art glass collection. A visitor enjoys a glass gallery as viewed through Frank Lloyd Wright's window from Darwin D. Martin House, ca 1903-1909. Canon 40D, f/5.6, 1/20s, ISO 400, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS zoomed to 28mm.

41 - Emancipation Oak

Emancipation Oak is a historic Live Oak (Quercus virgiana) tree located on the campus of Hampton University. It was the site of the first Southern reading of President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. The large sprawling oak is 98 feet in diameter. It is designated one of the 10 Great Trees of the World by the National Geographic Society. This photo was taken under its spreading branches looking upward with an 8mm fisheye lens. Canon 40D, f/8.0, 1/320s, ISO 200, Sigma 8mm f/3.5 circular fisheye.

39 - Colonnade

The arched colonnade outside the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News, Virginia was designed by the firm of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. The colonnade and the 1700 seat proscenium theater transformed an old 1950's vintage high school to serve Christopher Newport University's cultural and fine arts programs. Taken with a Backberry 9530 Camera Phone and converted to B&W.
