One of the four iconic columns flanking each interior entrance with angle volutes and female masks at the Monticello Arcade in Norfolk, Virginia. An arcade is the more stylized, ornamented antecedent to the modern shopping mall. Most arcades are covered by a series of arches supported on columns or piers.
